Interview with an environmentalist

So,
I interviewed Ashli Mauruster, a wildlife biologist at Sandia Labs and a member of the National Audubon Society. She has major concerns for the bird population in New Mexico so I figured chatting with her would give me insight about how others individuals value nature. Plus, it gave her a chance to rant (which is fine, too).

I'll just summarize the main points of our interview. Mainly we talked about the increasing deforestation happening, due to construction and urbanization all over New Mexico. This is harming the animal population, especially birds. She says in the last ten years, black-throated greys (birds indigenous to New Mexico) have become endangered. And she's very concerned for the silver minnow population, which is also on the decline.

Ultimately, she's in the process of writing grants to secure protection for areas in New Mexico, Like Madera Canyon, that are home to endanged species. She's raising awareness by speaking at environmental conferences.

From the interview, I gathered that she's really passionate about the environment and the welfare of animals, so she wants to dedicate her time to these causes. Our interview gave me clarity about New Mexico's physical landscape and how we need to find ways and means to protect it.
